| | | SAN JOSE: Key Additions: QB Erik Meyer, QB Joe Clancy WR Darius Reynolds, WR Adron Tennell, WR Diondre Borel, DB Virgil Gray, DB Eric Crocker.
Outlook: Head coach Darren Arbet, a three-time ArenaBowl champion, enters his 15th season at the helm of the SaberCats' squad (168-81, including his 16-9 postseason record) and is looking for his fourth straight playoff appearance. The 'Cats have been bounced from the National Conference playoffs by the Arizona Rattlers in each of the past three seasons. Arbet is hoping that quarterback Nathan Stanley, who had a superb rookie season in 2014 (50 TDs, 103.5 rating), can help the 'Cats take the next step in the postseason. The additions of veteran star defensive backs, Gray and Crocker, makes this one of the most dangerous secondaries in the league. Veteran Erik Meyer, who was signed by San Jose from division foe Spokane this off-season, will give the inexperienced 26-year old Stanley the leadership and support he needs to lead the 'Cats to another division title. | | ARIZONA: Key Additions: QB B.J. Coleman, FB Mykel Benson, WR Dwight Jones, WR Marquis Maze, OL Mike Golic Jr., OL Brennen Carvalho, DB Rayshaun Kizer.
Outlook: The defending champions, led by head coach Kevin Guy (77-27 in regular season, 11-3 in postseason as Rattlers HC) and reigning league MVP quarterback Nick Davila, will be looking for a four-peat this season after defeating the Gladiators 72-32 in the 2014 ArenaBowl. The league's No. 1 player, Davila, has all the weapons he needs on offense and . In 22 seasons in franchise history, the Rattlers have 19 playoff appearances, nine division titles and five ArenaBowl championships (nine ArenaBowl appearances). With returning stars such as WRs Rod Windsor and Kerry Reed, Davila is poised for another MVP-worthy season under center as he heads into his sixth season with the Rattlers. You can expect to see a fifth-straight division title for Arizona as they are likely to rank No. 1 in scoring offense again this season. |
