| TEXAS: The biggest question mark to begin the Charlie Strong era is the health status of oft-concussed QB David Ash (8.7 YPA, 7 TD, 2 INT). But this will be a run-first offense with RBs Malcolm Brown (904 rush yds, 9 TD), Jonathan Gray (780 rush yds) and Joe Bergeron (5.0 YPC, 4 TD). Texas' receiving corps also has great depth. The defense should improve with DE Cedric Reed (10 sacks), LB Jordan Hicks (40 tackles) and star CB Quandre Diggs (10 PD). | | TEXAS TECH: After a year of uncertainty, QB Davis Webb (7.5 YPA, 20 TD, 9 INT) is the unquestioned starter behind a mostly intact O-Line. The passing game lost Eric Ward and Jace Amaro, but WR Bradley Marquez (633 rec yds, 6 TD) should flourish as an inside receiver. RB DeAndre Washington (450 rush yds, 4 TD) is a capable back. The team improved its D-Line with JUCO transfers, and ILB V.J. Fehoko transferred from Utah, but this is still a poor defense. |
