KEY GAME INFORMATION

LA MONROE: Matt Viator takes over at head coach after having held the same position at McNeese State for the prior decade. The offense returns starting QB Garrett Smith (2,033 yds, 17 TD), who will have to improve after leading the nation's 115th-ranked offense last year. Mike Collins takes over as defensive coordinator, the same position he held at his alma mater from 1999-2002. Collins, who spent the last three seasons at Sam Houston State, had coordinated the defense for Viator at McNeese State from 2008-13.

ARKANSAS ST: The Red Wolves offense will need to rebuild after having lost a number of key players, most notably QB Fredi Knighten and star RB Michael Gordon. Offensive coordinator Walt Bell also left, for Maryland, so it will be new OC Buster Faulkner, who most recently held the same position at Middle Tennessee, relying on dual-threat QB Justice Hansen, a JUCO transfer. The Red Wolves' strength is a defense that led FBS in defensive TDs and INTs. A potentially dominant front four will be led by DE Ja'Von Rolland-Jones, whose nine sacks last season were tops in the Sun Belt.
