KEY GAME INFORMATION
PORTLAND: Key Additions: WR V'Keon Lacey, WR Perez Ashford, OL Ty Gieser, DB Andre Martin, DB Scott Williams, K Brady Beeson.
Outlook: Under head coach Matthew Sauk, the Portland Thunder finished their inaugural 2014 season with a putrid 5-13 record. But, they head into the 2015 season with plenty of hope under former Iowa Barnstormers head coach Mike Hohensee. He had three losing seasons with the 'Stormers from 2012-14, but the veteran coach won four division titles and an ArenaBowl in his long tenure with the former AFL franchise Chicago Rush (2001-2008, 2010). He brings in plenty of AFL postseason experience (12 wins in 24 playoff games) and has a shot at turning this franchise into a winning team. Last season, Portland had three different quarterbacks attempt at least 159 passes (Kyle Rowley, Dann Southwick and Darron Thomas) and four total see the field (Nathan Enderle). Three of those four signal callers are back for a second season in Portland''Rowley, Thomas and Enderle. It appears as though Rowley will once again be the go-to guy this season as they look to compete with some tough opponents in the Pacific Division.
ARIZONA: Key Additions: QB B.J. Coleman, FB Mykel Benson, WR Dwight Jones, WR Marquis Maze, OL Mike Golic Jr., OL Brennen Carvalho, DB Rayshaun Kizer.
Outlook: The defending champions, led by head coach Kevin Guy (77-27 in regular season, 11-3 in postseason as Rattlers HC) and reigning league MVP quarterback Nick Davila, will be looking for a four-peat this season after defeating the Gladiators 72-32 in the 2014 ArenaBowl. The league's No. 1 player, Davila, has all the weapons he needs on offense and . In 22 seasons in franchise history, the Rattlers have 19 playoff appearances, nine division titles and five ArenaBowl championships (nine ArenaBowl appearances). With returning stars such as WRs Rod Windsor and Kerry Reed, Davila is poised for another MVP-worthy season under center as he heads into his sixth season with the Rattlers. You can expect to see a fifth-straight division title for Arizona as they are likely to rank No. 1 in scoring offense again this season.
